Navo Middle School Band
Dear Future Navo Band Members and Parents,
Who is in band at Navo Middle School?
Many students at Navo Middle School are in Band! It is one of the largest organizations on campus and will continue to grow and become stronger in years to come. 6th grade band classes are scheduled so that the same instrument and instrument groups are put together by class period. This allows for individualized instruction on your chosen instrument and an opportunity to develop strong performance skills during your first year in band! You may choose one instrument from the following list: flute, oboe, clarinet, alto saxophone, bassoon, french horn, trumpet, trombone, euphonium, tuba, and percussion.
An instrumental music education is becoming an essential part of preparing for students' future success. Numerous studies are showing that the jobs today's students will be stepping into will require high levels of creative problem solving, time management, attention to detail, self-discipline and self-motivation. Colleges are always impressed when they see students have been a part of their middle and high school BAND programs. Colleges take special note of students who have been part of the school band programs for all 7 years (middle school through high school).
It all begins your first year!!! The first year in band is the most important because it is during this year that you will begin to develop a strong foundation.

The middle school years offer new opportunities, and we encourage students to participate in other activities. We work with students to help them succeed in all of their endeavors.
While we do encourage students to expore other opportunities while participating in band, a certain level of commitment is required in order to learn an instrument. In the first year of participation in band, each student is required to practice daily in order to acheive classroom expectations and grades.
Commitment is a key characteristic of Band Students!
We are proud of our band programs throughout Denton I.S.D. and hope that you will consider becoming a member of the best organization. We have included information on this website that we hope will answer most of your questions. If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call or email us.
